Meerkat Choir

Meerkat’s are amazingly ‘cute’ little creatures who appear to have quite a personality which proves to be interesting, when they decide it is the right time to form a choir. They gather for their first rehearsal, the maestro counts them in and then along comes a Tortoise who wants to join the choir.

Of course it is a Meerkat choir and a Tortoise is definitely not a Meerkat! And so they begin again when along comes a Hedgehog but of course HE is not a Meerkat either. The story gets funnier and funnier as the maestro gets more and more upset at all the interruptions. He even makes a HUGE sign saying the choir is FULL.

Finally he counts the choir in and, OH DEAR! Just because you are a Meerkat does not mean that you can sing!

This deliciously funny story with a real message, is presented beautifully by the talented Nicki Greenberg with her simple text and colourful illustrations, capturing perfectly the sadness, the frustration, and the fun all the animals have when they decide they really don’t need the Meerkats, they can form their own choir.

There is a huge amount of scope for a range of wonderful sounds to be created during reading and a lot of laughs to be had by everyone, as they discover a little about alternatives, diversity and acceptance in today’s world.

A fun read for the whole family that will leave a HUGE SMILE on everyone’s faces.
