Clean Cooking is more than just what to eat it is all about knowing what you are eating and making the best choices nutritionally possible. You do not have to be on some sort of a diet or other to be able to make healthy choices, it is according to Johansson, what makes you feel better as far as your health is concerned and also what you will enjoy eating.
There is nothing ‘rocket science ‘ about eating in a healthy and informed manner, but is a matter of choice, yours and yours alone, that will and can make a huge difference to how you feel.
Beginning with understanding the various foods that you a eat is a huge step along the way to “Clean Cooking’ as you use natural unprocessed, unrefined products such as fresh vegetables, meat, fish, honey with freshly squeezed juice, fresh fruit, grains such has quinoa, buckwheat, oat groats and lentils and so much more that perhaps normally pass you by.
The only items missing are dairy and gluten based products other than what is in home-made rustic bread, so for lovers of bread, the recipe is on page 62, because sometime there is simply nothing better than a crusty slice of fresh bread with a bowl of steaming hot soup.
Each of the recipes are from Johannsen’s own pantry and are cooked and eaten on a regular basis making them tried and true to what is on the page. The colourful illustrations do justice to the various dishes listed and when you begin with a cheerful handful of fresh strawberries and a Strawberry Milkshake recipe you know you are definitely on a good thing. The next good thing is the second recipe for a Chocolate-Chip Milkshake; how much better can it get.
Lots better it would seem, as there is something delicious to temp and try throughout. For those who take their lunch to work the soups listed under ‘Take Out’ soups in glass jars will make you the envy of the workplace canteen when you take them out of the bag. They look delicious, are easy to prepare and taste divine.
Buckwheat Pancakes with Blueberries and Peanut Butter would have to be top of the list for a casual Sunday morning brunch or the Amazebowls, if you want to be fancy or are having guests over at breakfast time. Simple and easy to prepare they cannot but be be winners in the nutrition stakes as well as with your friends. And that is just the beginning.
Healthy eating by choice does not have to be a dull and boring affair, but can be so much more with very little extra work involved, a few changes when you shop at the supermarket and a desire to enjoy a healthy, wonderful new diet or way of eating.
