Raw food! So what you say! What’s so fantastic about eating raw food? Well, according to Scott Mathias, raw food is the best way to living a healthy , energetic and vital lifestyle and he has proven this, turning his life of a semi-invalid around, becoming a healthy person enjoying all life can offer; All by eating his food raw.
His health dictated he could not enjoy meat and many other products. By persisting he was making himself seriously unwell. He started the transformation by discovering that there was a link between meat protein and his digestive system, and his stomachs inability to digest this type of protein. This followed on to wheat, diary, processed foods and sugar. He had touched on vegetarian eating but never really stuck to it until two near death experiences had him taking is life and his diet seriously.
During further research he discovered a product made from papaya which helped and as time went bye and he carried out more research he realised that eating raw foods seemed to be helping him.
His health began to improve, his depression seemed to be lifting and in general he was feeling much better. His RAW lifestyle seemed to be paying off. He decided to commit to a 100% raw food lifestyle, eliminating all the foods that were ‘troublesome’ and by doing so has reaped the health benefits.
He now devotes his time to helping others improve their health and lifestyle, promoting the RAW food way of eating and enhancing his knowledge base. He does not advocate moving into RAW food eating instantly but adding more and more dishes to your normal diet as a beginning and then assess the difference it is making to your sense of health and well-being.
His book, you can hardly refer to it as cookbook, but that is what it is, offers those who are looking for alternatives a superb range of delicious dishes that will appeal to and please everyone.
There are sections devoted to essential equipment, essential ingredients, just to get you in the mood, which are also very helpful if this is your first journey in RAW food eating. There is as wide a selection of foods to prepare as you will find in any other style of cookery book, all with a very heathy and nutritious edge to them.
You can easily make your own nut milk; whip up some delicious Zucchini Hummus to serve with Corn and Tomato Naan Bread. Add some Portobello Mushrooms Stuffed with Parmesan and Peppers, Fatoush and complete this with a dish of Raspberry Coconut Ice.
Sounds delicious, tastes fantastic!
