Adapting to life, AI and other big changes
Change is the only constant in this life, but it is the one certainly, other than death, that we as humans struggle to cope with, frequently placing huge levels of stress or distress upon ourselves and others as we go through the process of change.
Gary Waldon is a man who has faced change in his life many, many times having worked in 43 different jobs, been broke, downhearted, elated and flush with funds more than once. He has faced change on a regular basis and learned that no matter what, change will occur and by doing so life is richer, wisdom is gained and lessons learned.
In Mastering the Art of Reinvention he shares his hard-earned philosophies of life, tips that have helped him through the dark days and in doing so reaches out to everyone who is struggling to cope with the rapidity of change in the world of today.
He addresses the issue of AI or Artificial Intelligence, or the elephant in the room, in a very grounded chapter, as he considers it vital to understand even if only a little the impact this will have on our lives.
AI is considered the fastest generational change to occur and the one that is going to have and is already having, a massive impact on how we live our lives. It is fast, profound, far reaching and still in its infancy. Waldon considers we are at a turning point in history that will require a serious rethink- a pressing of the reset button – reinvention.
To this end he uses his life journey along with familiar events to illustrate that change need not be feared that reinvention is something everyone is very good at achieving and with a little bit of hard reflection, a good understanding of who you are and what you wish to achieve, reinvention or change is able to be embraced.
Written in a very comfortable manner that has ‘bloke’ appeal, he tells it like it is, talking openly about the grieving that is a part of reinvention; the wish to return to a comfortable place in your life where you felt certain of the outcomes, the struggle that often takes place to let go of the old and embrace the new and so many more ‘lifeisms’ faced during the course of life.
Mastering the Art of Reinvention is a game changer as Waldon is not telling you everything will be wonderful, it won’t be but is offering a fresh perspective on how to survive the ups and downs of life without getting lost and being able to recognise the next brilliant opportunity when it arrives in your life.
