There are many cold cases, which are still open as the police have been unable to bring any closure for the surviving relatives. In author S.D.Hinton’s crime novel ‘Inlet Bridge’, the wife of the missing person, with the help of her former soldier brother, decides to conduct an examination into the what and who of her missing husband’s case.

During an evening walk, a truck clatters across the bridge just as Sarah and her husband, Ewen, are crossing it. Sarah is drawn out to sea on the inlet tide; she manages to drag herself ashore, but Ewen is nowhere to be found. The police are skeptical and after a cursory investigation the case goes cold. Desperate to find her husband, Sarah contacts her brother Harry for help.

Having been in the military Harry is both creative and resourceful; he is determined to discover the circumstances surrounding Ewen’s disappearance and to ascertain what happened to him. Sarah and Harry’s investigation and relationship is fraught with tension and complex emotions; some of Wilsons Cove’s inhabitants are far from cooperative. Do they have something to hide or are they wary of Harry’s abrasive manner and his reputation for using his fist?

Readers who enjoyed S.D.Hinton’s highly acclaimed first novel will definitely enjoy this, her second book. I highly recommend this page turning narrative, which is full of surprises with so many twists, keeping the reader totally engaged; the final twist will have the reader rethinking the story long after they have read the last page.
