Seven year old Jordan longs for a warm cuddly pet she can love and look after. One rainy day she decides to make a drawing of the pet she wishes for and draws a picture of a turquoise monkey.  She soon discovers that a drawing is no replacement for the real things but realises that even though she wishes and wishes for the monkey, wishes do not always come true until…….

In a local pet shop is a sad, lonely, turquoise monkey who’s carer is almost ready to give up hope the little monkey is ever going to get well, when along comes Jordan. One look at the little monkey and it is love at first sight.  She begs her parents to let her bring the monkey home and look after it. So begins a love affair with one of nature’s endangered species the Golden Monkey, who did not look so very golden to begin with.

Blending fiction with fact and experience in creating the Turquoise Monkey, Mary Frances has created a very entertaining way of bringing to every child and their parent’s attention the plight of endangered species of the world.

Good reading with a delightful storyline.
