Now,, it is not a far stretch to see the resemblance between a very famous detective, and Fabio, and a certain Oriental journey that was made, in his latest adventure Mystery on the Ostrich Express, but that is about where the resemblance ends, as Fabio is actually going to the seaside on holidays.

He is just sorting out a few last-minute issues that need to be done, when he and Gilbert call in at Mr Alfonso’s jewellery shop to get his watch repaired. Just as they arrive a very elegant Fox is leaving, placing something in her handbag.

It becomes apparent Mr Alfonso, a very elderly tortoise, wishes to speak with them about another matter, other than Fabio’s watch, but time does not permit. Fabio and Gilbert hurry to gather their luggage and board the Ostrich Express, the fastest train in the world, very luxurious and exceptionally comfortable and that is when things begin to go somewhat wrong.

Before long Fabio and Gilbert have been plunged into the very middle of another exciting adventure that will take all of Fabio’s skills and Gilberts incredible talents to solve.

Another rollicking good yarn from the talented Laura James as Fabio and Gilbert do their very best to unmask the bandits and discover what happened to the priceless ruby, stolen on the Ostrich Express.

Perfect for the mid reader who loves a great detective story full of flamboyant, colourful, well Fabio is a flamingo, mystery. There is also sneakily little preview into their next adventure to be found at the end of the book.

Laura James and Emily Fox have once again created a fabulously exciting adventure filled with gasps, derring do and bravery, that somehow always comes out all right in the end, with Fabio and Gilbert enjoying their holiday at the seaside, even thought poor Gilbert ended up with a very broken foot.
