As this is a sequel, you may get a little confused with reference to the previous book, but do not let this put you off as it really is a very good story.
When brother and sister Amanda and Adam, who usually go on a ‘misery on wheels’ road trip with their parents for the holidays, (where Amanda remains glued to her phone and Adam getting car sick all the time), discover that this time they are going to be sent to summer camp, instead.
Adam and Amanda are not your usual kids as Adam is a zombie and his friend Corina is a vampire, Ernesto, his backyard neighbour is a ‘cupachabra’, note: perhaps about now you need to rush out to the store and buy the first book! And they too are going to Camp. And what is more, none of them are any too happy about spending time in what they consider is the great outdoors.
Their parents are renting the house out to a convention of Dentists, while they also take a break, but these are not your usual conventional Dentists.
The kids have to catch the bus to Camp, but as they board the bus the Camp Director invites them to ‘hop on the bus on a one way trip to fun’, which is when the problems begin.
The problem is that Corina is beginning to have issues already as she can smell the blood of the fellow travellers, as most of the camps she has been to have been specifically for other vampires she is a little worried; Ernesto is hankering for wild moose or deer which will make a change from his usual diet of squashed squirrel and Adam is getting worried that someone may take a good look at him and realise he is not a normal kid at all.
They read a sign ‘can nibble donuts’ so the bus stops and they discover the donuts are very, very nice, perhaps a little bit too nice! Take another note: check out the name of the donuts-it may give you a clue to what comes next!
The Camp Director collects all the passports as a passport check is required as they cross the border into Canada. A note: this is important to make a note about!
When they arrive at the Camp the previous group put on a show for the new arrivals. But something is very odd as they are all very overweight, which seems a little bit strange.
As the days go on Adam begins to wonder just what is really going on. He sets out to have a bit of a snoop around and discovers that there are some very, very strange things happening, that are far weirder than anything he and his friends might come up with.
The friends come to the conclusion they need to get help from their parents as they don’t like what they are finding out and overhearing! They plot their escape from the Camp and with a little bit of help from their more unusual friends in the moose family and a friendly truck driver, they set the wheels in motion for a very exciting escape.
