When I presented The Colour Fairies to our 2 ¾ year old it was a very gracious “thank you Daddy, thank you”…. she loves books.

This is a “know your colours” book in the guise of a princess and her colourful fairy helpers getting her ready for the “Royal Rainbow Ball” using all the various colours of the rainbow such as crimson shoes, yellow crown.

The book would suit a slightly older reader as we had to direct our child to touch and interact with the various elements ie; pop up, push and pull tabs and textured inserts. She really liked the book requesting more immediately upon our finishing reading with her as she was obviously now far more adapt and expecting to interact with the various elements.

I appreciate the various uses of push and pull tabs are intently different to develop their fine motor skills but having most tabs as a pull and a tab ½ way through as a push option has the potential to be confusing to a child… I assume this is purely age related.

As an adult reader there are many items you can point out to your child such as counting fairies, what other blue things can we see on the page and much more… Enjoy reading to your child.
