This is a lovely way to introduce Christmas stories to very young readers. The soft covered Picture Book lends itself beautifully to curious readers and fingers. The simple story line is well illustrated and shows a group of rabbits who are hunting for elves. Cleverly hidden under flaps are the elves, and when a flap is lifted, the elf is numbered.

The text is rhyming and delightfully simple to read.  Many animals are introduced to the story for interest. The penguins and robins and Polar bears are all shown as being well adapted to the cold and fit in well with the story line. While busy fingers will be searching for flaps to lift, the animals are moving through the story.

The illustrations are bright and have plenty of details for perusing and pointing out. As the rabbit family head towards the North Pole, more elves are found in the pages and more flaps discovered. The repetitive rhyming helps young ones to memorise and repeat the story as the pages turn.
