When Roland Harvey and his family head off for their holidays it seems there are adventures galore,  and as Roland Harvey is pretty good at drawing he has added a whole lot of pictures to his journal of his family and their holidays.

Everything We Ever Saw is very clever, a bit like Where’s Wally with words, and contains an enormous amount of detail, making the book suitable for kids and grown up kids, particularly on those dog days when there’s just “nothing to do, Mum!” and hoildays just that little bit more fun.

When the family go to Crabby Spit for their summer beach holidays Grandma can’t go so they take her with them through the post by sending her postcards every day about what they were doing and of course, as Roland can draw, a whole lot of drawing and maps about where they went and what they did. They even sailed out to an island and on the island was a dark, dank cave which may have been the lair of pirates. And that’s just the beginning!

They head out Bush but somehow Uncle Kev gets invited as well. He just adds to the general mayhem by always being ahead of the group and somehow never managing to be where he is supposed to be. They almost, but not quite, find themselves looking for Uncle Kev. Where he is, no one seems to know.

So Ronald Harvey’s intrepid family continue on their merry way around Australia having adventures like you wouldn’t believe, all the while still on the trail of Uncle Kev.  Do they ever find him? Well, you will have to buy the book and find out.

Everything We Ever Saw is a great one for the entire family as Christmas giving and even not Christmas giving. The illustrations are very clever, a bit like Where’s Wally with words, and contains an enormous amount of detail.

Each time you set out on holidays whether it is yours or as a voyager with Roland Harvey and his amazing family you will always find something new to see, which after all is the purposed of a holiday, isn’t it. Never mind about Uncle Kev!
