The storyline is familiar; comfortable like an old shoe, wrapping around like a soft blanket on an autumn evening, delving into issues many face as they travel their life pathways.

Higgins has taken life experience and transferred it into a heart-warming look at life and learning in so many ways. It’s all about perspectives, friendship, doing the tough stuff and surviving.

It’s a novel which will warm your heart, take you on a journey of ‘remember when’, leave you feeling as if you have been a part of Monique’s “bucket list’ trip of learning, living, letting go and rebuilding.

You may find as you envelop the story of Monique and her friends, as they all struggle to cope with major changes in their life,  perhaps that ‘ah ha’ moment of enlightenment on an issue in your life that could use  a new perspective.

Lennie, Monique’s recently departed husband has left behind his, or rather their bucket list. There are twelve things on that list. He has left sufficient money and instructions to allow her to carry out all the many things they hoped to achieve, such as  visiting the Tower of London, abseiling in the Pyrenees, visiting the catacombs of Notre Dame, with the ‘to do’ list getting more and more adventurous as it progresses towards the final item.

Monique is struggling to accept that Lennie has died, her best friend Judy is are struggling to cope with ‘empty-nest syndrome’ and other best friends Beck ‘s marriage seems to be failing fast ,along with her eyesight.

Together the three friends set out to take on Europe and complete the bucket list. As they push themselves beyond the boundaries of their singular and collective comforts zones  they discover by doing so they have gained more than they have lost in terms of friendship, love, life and understanding.
