Charles Schultz’s character Lucy has an important message to pass on to other young females. This comic book enforces her view of girls and their place in society.  Subtlety is lost on Lucy, and her audience, mainly Peanuts, is shown in no uncertain terms what girls really need.

The chapters in the book are as follows: BELIEVE IN YOURSELF, MAKE YOURSELF HEARD, FIGHT FOR WHAT YOU BELIEVE IN, ALWAYS TAKE CONTROL, STAND UP FOR YOUR SISTERS, PLAY TO WIN, and STICK UP FOR YOURSELF.

There are some insights to life, such as when Peanuts says, “That is to say that is bad or good?”

Lucy, with a look of astonishment says, “I will.” …..

Charlie Brown says rather forlornly, “You never have any self-doubt, do you?”

The reply is simply drawn and just shows Lucy’s look of amazement at the question.

The book is printed in black and white, with a bright blue colour for Lucy’s dress on the front cover, with both the end pages coloured in the same vivid blue. It gives quite a dramatic effect, especially with Lucy’s placard prominently displayed ….”POWER TO MY KIND”…

Readers will enjoy the child like humour and the child like way in which a serious message is enforced.
