Special Delivery from Leese Ronald is a fun and entertaining story as we meet Poppy, who is very pregnant, and very single, who has arrived back in her home town for the support of her family. Giving birth was such a far cry from her job, where she was the indispensable manager who solved all problems.

However, she is happy to be back at the local hospital, even though the Uber eat option after the birth will be limited. It is the throw away lines like this that have the reader smiling throughout the story.

Poppy’s Mum is an avid shopper and is keen to alert her daughter to the current bargains in the stores and the latest available men… Poppy’s reply,” Mum, I’m 37 weeks pregnant. I am looking for breast pads and nipple gel” …..not looking for a man.

It is only when Poppy reveals to the nurse that she has had this nasty backache for a while that things begin to move, and labour is confirmed. When her midwife comes into the room, she realises that it is the man she had a fight with in the car park; th9e last person she would ever want to see at this time.

The story continues with Poppy learning about Motherhood, her new community, her friendships and the father of her child, who rings to enquire not about the birth or baby, but about office business. With the same humour and honesty Leesa moves the story along and we share Poppy’s journey. This is a fun holiday read.
