Quincy M.E. is back with another forensic filled 22 episode season.
This fifth outing sees our favourite medical examiner tackle highly contentious issues such as suspect marijuana, teen prostitution and Soviet spies to name a few.
Quincy M.E. was a pioneer in the medical mystery genre and like CSI (and similar) the scientific and forensic approach is far beyond its years and yet it also manages to capture the very essence of the time, being 1979-80.
If it ain’t broke don’t fix it certainly applies here with Quincy once again challenging the Police on the cause of death and the events leading up to it. All the usual suspects are also back, Sam his faithful and dedicated sidekick, the ever doubting Lt Frank Monahan, Dr Asten and the accommodating tavern owner Danny Tovo. And ‘Quince’ still manages to find time for the ladies who are often half his age.
Keep an eye out for soap opera favourite, A Martinez in the season finale, No Way to Treat a Patient.
I admit I’m a first time viewer to this medical gem but I’ve lapped it up, watching five seasons in record time, its that good.
But don’t just take my word for it, do yourself a favour, you wont be sorry.
There’s a reason Jack Klugman was nominated four times for an Emmy award.
