How to describe an ambient album that runs for just over one hour, created by a stellar line-up of musicians, each with their own style, history and ‘A’ list of bands played with over many years.

 Well, you simply don’t other than to say Interdwell is a seriously good combination of sounds that relax, creating the perfect medium to slip gently into a deep meditation that allows the mind to simply float free, the sensual ambiance gently wrapping around the senses to perfection.  And that is only on the first track Search.

Dark Sky Alliance is formed by David Helpling, Eric ‘the’ Taylor, Jerry Marotta and Rupert Greenall who have been joined by Robert Rich, Tony Levin, Jamie West-Oram, Joe Locke, and the late Sonam Targee to take the world of ambient sound into another galaxy entirely, each track containing some tantalising, eclectic and fascinating combinations.

Space travel, free association, storytelling that only you can access, soft washes of sound, clear definitions of layers with gentle ethereal percussion lead into an almost unassuming primal pulse in The Desert Sky.

Interdwell, the signature piece is a more upbeat, catchy piece that changes the mood completely, with a full bodied flourish of multilayered orchestration led by intricate percussion laced with catchy back beats to create ten minutes of fascinating listening.

Returning to the mortal plane is achieved with the clean, contrasting tones of Bring Myself To Say It…….. which if it is said, could mean one incredibly brilliant body of work, created by musicians who are simply out there enjoying what they do, combining their many years of craftsmanship in their music disciplines to deliver a listening experience that is transcendental.
