Synthesiser, Piano: Piano, Synthesiser: add a bit of percussion, a lick of guitar now and then, a very clever artist and there you have it, future music with an ethereal, definitely other-world feel to it.
Classically trained, Savage has used his immense capabilities with the keys to compose and create an album which ranks up amongst the top end of the list in the electronic genre of music which is being created and experimented with in many differing forms. It is a genre which stands alone as, to a large degree, it is improvisational and can contain cycles or patterns or rhythms, if you like, from widely differing soundscapes.
Influences by Pink Floyd at an early age, followed by modern classical as a teen then then jazz and more influenced Savage in his composing which is very evident in the composition of the music.
Commencing with a rather up beat melody you find yourself slowly drifting into time and space: time passes and suddenly you are adrift in a rather sombre place, but when you really listen to the pieces you can imagine yourself tumbling through space, ever looking for a bright placed to land. The ambience changes once again to light and airy, which could be likened to delicately moving amongst the stars, just waiting to be allowed to collect a couple and place them in a safe place.
Future comes into the equation as you come into the last phase of the music which once again allows the mind to drift to wherever it chooses to go, getting ready to make or choose the final landing place in peace and light.
The album is one which should be listened to as one piece, not in several segments, so that you can feel the total ambience of the music and let your mind and spirit roam free from the present, to the past to the future.
You could liken it to trying to listen to “War of the Worlds’ in bits and pieces – you really don’t want to go there - so with Future Memory set aside the time to enjoy the experience of travelling into Future Memories.
