Guinea pigs are the cutest of little creatures; all soft fur, little cheeping sounds and always good for a quick cuddle. They tend to be tolerant and kids love them, so do big grown-up kids.

Cast as characters to portray one of Christmases traditional stories, that of the birth of the Christ Child, they steal the scene; the guinea pigs bring with them an innocence to a story which, in many aspects, was not so innocent.

It is a book for giving, a book for sharing and a book that will warm your heart this Christmas and for many more to come.

When Bloomsbury put this interpretation of the birth of Christ together, they were inspired.   Each of the little guinea pig “photographic models” bring their own personalities and along with their minimalist, colourful costumes to grace the  ancient story, still with much of the traditional language in use; although in some instances, given a slightly more modern twist.

We have shepherds, Joseph, Mary, King Herod and of course the three wise men, along with the inn keeper and the Angles all involved in their part of the nativity story which brings to the forefront the real story of Christmas in a medium designed to appeal to all ages and faiths.

It is a book for giving, a book for sharing and a book that will warm your heart this Christmas and for many more to come.  It is a collectible and one that will be handed on down through the years.

A little note at the end of the book gives some light as to why something as heart-warming and quirky as this was created, obviously with much fun and patience: it is to draw to your attention the plight of all small animals that are abandoned every day.

The message this Christmas is share the spirit by supporting one of your local animal refuge centres wherever you may be: Merry Christmas to one and all!
