When Alice Grist, author and publisher, fell pregnant she decided to keep a diary for her unborn child, and then was brave enough to allow it to be shared as a book. Thank you for sharing your deeply personal journey into motherhood. You have shared with us all the trials and tribulations, the love and wanting, the doubt and belief that come with pregnancy, whether it is the first, the third or the sixth.

By doing so you have given new mothers everywhere a handbook to help guide them thought the very emotional and often confronting days of becoming a mother.

Dear Alice

Thank you for sharing your deeply personal journey into motherhood. You have shared with us all the trials and tribulations, the love and wanting, the doubt and belief that come with pregnancy, whether it is the first, the third or the sixth. By doing so, you have touched our hearts and emotions.

You have delved deep into your psyche to confront the many issues that becoming a parent for the first time offers. Can I, will I and so on.

Your bravery at sharing the story of your and James re-birthing is one many can take on board. The rediscovering of your love and commitment to each other, after being down in the pit of despair and confronting your dysfunctional relationship, sharing the new love and respect you rediscovered for each other.

That is tough going for anyone, let alone being brave enough to share it with the world. Isn’t it marvellous what the impending birth of your child can create, not only spiritually but in so many other ways? You discover just exactly of what you are capable– many of your strengths unexpected; all of them enriching.

It was such a joy to travel this journey with you as you shared your treasured moments, growing and learning the art of acceptance along the way.

Spiritually, the gift of new life brings with great and wondrous gifts of its own, which we all rejoice in, wallow in from time to time and truly wonder at most of the time.

Sharing your mood swings, chuckling as James  steps up to the task of living with and supporting a woman through a very emotional time, discovering that within himself he is also very much in love, not only with his wife but also with his unborn child.

Your wonderful phrase that James was also nesting is a reminder that it is not all just the mother-to-be but that there is another person involved as well, other than the baby that is!

Your offering of a snapshot into your own family background was so enjoyable as it added another dimension to the depth of love and understanding that comes through, page after page as another chapter in your family begins, the chapter titled Alice, James and Ivy Bella aka Dear Poppyseed.

The entire journey, spiritual or not, is one every woman can relate too who has become a mother, and as the years roll along a Grandmother. – Grandmothers are the people who are so important in a small child’s life, as they add that extra dimension, that voice of reason when all else fails and that helping hand when the mess gets all too much. It warms the heart to know you have all of your parents at hand to help and support as this will be so enriching as the years pass and your “Dear Poppyseed” grows into an active, inquisitive little girl.

Thank you for your incredible gift to all new mothers as they too set out on the road you have travelled recently; the gift of your journey to your child, as she undertakes her journey into her own life. A gift she will no doubt treasure once it becomes her time to become a mother.

Enjoy every day and every precious minute as they are all so very special and will only come your way once.

As you have said when confronting your own spirituality, it is your road travelled that makes you the person you are, your lessons learned that created the enrichment and spirituality that adds the dimensions that make you so very, very you.

From the parents of the world – thank you Alice Grist for sharing with love.
