Going on “Holliers”, for those not in the know this means holidays, when you reach a certain age is supposed to be something that you do in a proper and correct manner. Something like taking a genteel coach trip to some foreign country and at all times behave as befits your age or similar – whatever appeals generally.

But when two old friends re-unite after many years they decided to take a trip together to see how things go as travelling companions and so re-define the art of going on “Holliers”, as they fondly describe their outrageous adventures across the world in search of all the many things yet unseen and un-done.

Liz and Hil were companions during their school years but as adults lived very different lives and lifestyles, one remaining in England, the other moving her life and career to Australia. A mutual friend arranged a re-union and from that moment the two friends decided retirement, travelling and all the very interesting stuff in between was something they could share.

Learning to cope with each other in small hotel rooms when things did not pan out the way they planned, supporting each other through dysentery and much more, along with simply enjoying the fine art of travel, turned into a fine old romp about the world for these intrepid travellers.

Filled with laughter, great food finds, interesting people, lessons learned, travel do’s and don’ts, this is definitely one for the arm-chair traveller, or the person of a certain age who wants to get out there and take on the world,

A great light-hearted read for one and all.
