Secret Men’s Business For Men & Those Who Love Them

In 2014 John Boroadbent felt strongly enough about the issues the modern man faces to write a book, Man Unplugged  which was at the time a ground breaker as it drew long overdue attention to the issues the modern man faces on a daily basis relating to love, parenting, emotional development and exactly where they are expected to fit into  the modern world.

Time old beliefs have become challenged, men in general have been tarred as people not to be trusted, the media and in more recent years Social Media have highlighted the lack of respect men have and still do hold towards women, with women standing up and demanding to be heard; have their issues dealt with, perpetrators punished.

So where does this leave the everyday man, the man who wants to live a good, happy, fulfilled life with his life partner and family; where can he go to seek support, help and guidance when things go terribly wrong.

Over the past ten years Broadbent realised much had changed in the world of men and it was time to revisit Man Unplugged bringing it into the world of today which has changed considerably with the post COVID fallout faced by many families, the #metoo movement and the increase in domestic violence to name just a few societal influences.

He looks at the psychology of cause and effect, the change in the traditional role of the man in the family, and the rise and rise, all be it in the secret world of men, support systems for men which should not be considered as ‘secret’.

He reiterates that to create a society that is a win, win society for both men and women everyone needs to stop and listen, to understand to respect the issues on both sides as what is considered as a ‘gender-based divide’ currently in place, will ultimately do little or no good. He hopes the information in Man Unplugged will be a small step in that direction.

Drawing on personal experience, a life well lived and many years of working within the world of ‘men’s work’ coaching, mentoring and facilitating retreats for men, Broadbent’s revised Man Unplugged is a must read for anyone who works in the field of men’s health, any man who is confused, seeking understanding  about life in general and any woman who cares enough to want to understand the world of ‘men’, 2025 and ongoing !
