Meet Jinx Beers – pioneer, feminist, lesbian, activist and founder of the lesbian news, America’s first and eventually leading newspaper dedicated to gay and lesbian rights.

Now, at the age of  75 she has decided to complete her autobiography which she has been working on for many years, commencing from her early childhood in depression America to today, when in older age she is so very comfortable with whom she is and the road she has well-travelled.

Written with a light touch, you feel very comfortable joining Jinx on her journey through life: from growing up during the depression to her years serving with the United States Airforce, travels in Europe, learning to cope with her emerging sexuality and eventually to a varied as well as challenging life in the civilian world.

She also gives a true insight into social issues of the past few decades, her thoughts and feeling when she was part of a sit in protest at a TV station against the host declaring genocide for all gay and lesbian people, to a frank discussion on AIDS within the community and so much more.

Ending with a collection of her poetry, which she commenced writing when she was seven years old, this is a fascinating and totally absorbing look at a life which has been blessed with diversity, richness, many challenges and above all, well lived!
