To step onto an alien planet and absorb the customs and culture would be similar to reading this book.  These are true stories from a Hollywood Nanny.  So many times your jaw drops and eyes widen, as you read of another scandal.  While admitting us into the homes and lives of the rich and famous, the author has maintained confidentiality and integrity.  Her respectful manner reveals why she is such a success.  She has written this book with personal knowledge and experience.

Lindsay, Nanny to six children, was born in a small country town in Australia.  She and her family moved to Melbourne to further her education.  While on holiday she worked as a baby-sitter and from the start had a wonderful, sensitive relationship with babies and children.  She gradually acquired a great reputation as a professional, responsible Nanny.  A Hollywood star asked if she would mind his four children on board a yacht in Sydney.  From there, her career and her reputation took off. She then went to live in America and had many job offers.

Stories of wealth are plentiful.  For example, the Parents who flew sixty children, first class, from Hollywood to Paris, “for a Disneyland birthday party.”  At an Easter egg hunt, Lindsay hid plastic balls with $50 notes inside, as well as 2000 chocolate eggs.  Many of the female stars had their own solarium at home, as well as a make-up artist and hairdresser at call.

The thing that was most impressive in this story was the Nanny.  Her greatest challenge was to give the children a sense of being loved, cared for and a sense of security.  Despite the fact that the Nanny only stayed with the children for a year or so, the bond that they developed was tangible.

Lindsay was approached by a celebrity and asked if she would train his staff in the art of Nannying.  Soon, many celebrities were approaching Lindsay to train their staff.  This is when she decided to resign from her position and begin a professional Nanny Training School.

Lindsay, like the author, has many great Australian characteristics.  She has a great sense of being down to earth and unflappable.  She would consider many situations that would alarm us, with humour and thoughtfulness.  It was fascinating to read about the rich and famous.  However, most impressive were Lindsay’s work ethic and versatility.
