Man, Oh Man! Talk about wanting to read Philosophy well go right ahead and try to get your head about the Nothing syndrome and you may have a chance of staying part way rational as you move through the pages of Nothing Matters.

Because after all it is all about Nothing which on the surface would appear incredibly simple because after all what is there to write about Nothing! Well as it turns out there is a lot you can write about nothing and while on the subject did you know that back in the days of the 11th Century, Nothing could definitely get you hung! You didn’t know that or did you?

Once you have your, metaphorically speaking, head about the opening chapters of “Nothing” you can bravely venture into the true unknown of nothing, where once you really get into the pages you begin to realise that Nothing is really a very serious subject and has, over centuries, caused a great many issues.

It is responsible for the birth of the decimal system well before the Romans came up with their method of counting: it has been officially sanctioned by Pope Pius XII as the beginning of the “big bang theory” for the beginning of the world or evolution, even though the Catholic Church in the 11th Century outlawed the mere mention of nothing or 0. But then again is 0 really nothing: No it is not, it is a number!

Nothing has had a huge influence on art as monochromatic works are considered in the same sphere as is nothing – no colour therefore nothing: there is a phrase “nothing in common” but consider what it does indeed mean.

Nothing seems to have its roots firmly based in religion or does it? Just look at the creation story – is it a fuss about nothing or possibly something! If matter was created out of nothing then just what is nothing!

Freud had a go at Nothing. Some would say with limited success as you have also had a go at nothing in particular at some point in your day: it would seem, Nothing really matters – or does it!

Whatever Green set out to do in this book, it certainly makes you wake up and have a another good look at just what it is that is comprised within the word Nothing: you may find it does your head in as they say, but it will also get you thinking about one of life’s most fascinating conundrums – Nothing!
