Becky Bexley – The Child Genius (Book 3)

Arriving at Book three in the Becky Bexley series we find Becky involved in several very interesting discussions with her friends at University. In Chapter one, there are only two chapters this time, Becky instigates some seriously interesting fun when their Tutor does not turn up for a seminar.

She and her friends begin to discuss a radio programme one of them had heard on mental health issues. Remember, Becky is studying psychology, even though she is only 11 or something years old, and is a child genius. They discussed why the programmers decided to put Opera into what should have been a serious subject, which led onto an entire series of ‘what if’s’, which led onto acting out the ‘what if’s’, which caused some very interesting results from some very annoyed Tutors!

Chapter two, or rather section two, begins in the canteen where they have all met for lunch, and in their usual style begin to discuss some of the more interesting, serious social issues such as false rumours and the wide ranging effect they can have on so many people.

Not stopping there, this leads on to a wide and very diverse range of topics which got very heavy before the subject of Hurricane names entered the discussion. This proved very interesting indeed, featuring flying fish with cats attached which then moved onto trying to speak a foreign language, in a foreign country and get it right!

Wage differences, what could lead to better Peace talks, Scammers which Becky and her friends considered should be a subject in the curriculum to address as they felt it was so important to understand how the scamming system works.

Funny stories are told about Driving and the very serious subject of Drug use and abuse was discussed in detail, just before they realised the canteen was shutting and they had been discussing all these very important matters, and many more for almost ten hours! A mammoth discussion indeed.

Student Fun and a Mammoth Discussion is a very long winded look at many very serious social issues and investigates them from a teenage perspective. The discussions, while being lengthy, cover a considerable amount of information which is current and very necessary to be presented to the young teen market place.
