The Artist’s Way for Parents, the sequel to The Artist’s Way, is a useful resource for parents with children from newborn to twelve years old. Its aim is to help parents develop their child’s creativity.

Organised into twelve chapters, each one promotes the cultivation of a positive trait, for example, cultivating self expression, cultivating curiosity or cultivating discovery. Each chapter contains at least one exercise or activity to do with your child. Whilst some of these activities are things that we, as parents, are familiar with, having them written down is a good reminder for when we are perhaps frazzled or at our wits end. The comprehensive index at the back of the book is particularly handy.

There are some useful tips and good advice in this book although I found the tone and rather ‘American voice’ somewhat irritating at times. However, I think new parents especially will appreciate the advice and ideas.
