Bridie Farrell and Shaun Broderick come from opposite ends of the social spectrum in a small Australian town, and of course they fall in love, much to the horror of the Broderick family who set out to do their all to split the pair up.

Shaun and Bridie face all odds and discover that true love has more to it than instant romance. Eventually Bridie has to make the choice between her dreams or her love for Shaun.

I found this book to essentially be the classic Romeo and Juliet theme,which heavily pervades the story. Also tipping its Akubra to the classic folk on the rural landscape stereotypes, including the local pub; the rich and those from “the wrong side of the tracks”.

 This not a bad thing as makes for a nice light read, but be warned iconic Australian references abound. Having said all that you can’t help loving the easy and predictable nature of this book. This book is touted as a rural saga and it does deliver on that front.
