If you have a “girly girl” in your household, you have found a book to enchant and entice. My little one loves pretty things be it; shoes, dresses or hair ties and has no doubt that she will be dressed as a beautiful princess which special occasions dictate.

I’m old; the illustrations remind me of Holly Hobby with a french twist yet the text is very modern and the adventures very relate-able to my girl.

“Everyone will be charmed by the wonderfully nostalgic, delightfully innocent and carefree world of Amelie and Nanette. Their lives are rich with adventure, sometimes good, sometimes bad (and sometimes a little sad) but always mixed with laughter. From riverside picnics and seaside capers to cake-baking marathons and dressing-up, there’s an adventure around every corner. And, even when things go wrong, there’s nothing so awful that their friendship (and a big hug) can’t make better.”

Is it a child’s book? or can it stretch to a sentimental keepsake for that very special friend that you have grown up with that has seen you through thick and thin since you were 6? Go ahead and escape into the girls world where the biggest stress is a naughty dog; it really is very quaint.
