For those who enjoyed ‘The Famous Five: Five on a Treasure Island’ this sequel, ‘The Famous Five: Five Go Adventuring Again’ will be another must read. The ‘Five’ are back together in Kirrin, looking for excitement and adventure.

Julian, Dick, Anne, Cousin George and loyal dog Timmy – The Famous Five – are informed that a tutor has been organised to ensure that future end of year school reports are greatly improved. This news is not enthusiastically received by the children. When Uncle Quentin’s document, the conclusion to his top secret report for the Ministry of Defense, goes missing the children are under suspicion for having committed this crime. However, they have their own ideas.

Is it Mr Wilton, the suspicious character George had seen earlier on the train, but who claims to be a historic buildings’ architect, or is it Mr Roland, the tutor? Can they unscramble the strange code on the parchment, which Anne had discovered in the hidden cellar?  How will ‘The Five’ reveal the real criminals?

With a hidden passage and a wardrobe with a double back, there is no end of suspense to keep the young reader engaged with this 1943 story by Enid Blyton.

The eye catching illustrations created by Natael and his son Beja, make this a graphic novel which will not only appeal to emerging independent readers of the 2020s, but also bring back fond memories for their grandparents who were young readers in the 1960’s.
