Celebrating the arrival of their first day at school, the Bunnies are so excited. They leap out of bed, hurrying off to the kitchen for their breakfast. As they collect their bags and lunch and pencils the excitement grows.

They begin the journey to where their lessons will start, hopping and jumping with enthusiasm. They sit on logs and listen and learn until the day is over. What fun they have had, so many stories and new friends to tell about.

Hooray! It’s Our First Day is a brightly coloured picture book as well as a lift the flap book. The bunnies need to find their pencils and lunch to continue on their way to their lessons. As an introduction to young children who have yet to attend school, this is a good preparation for positive thinking about a new experience.

The text is in a large font, good for small fingers to follow. There is also repetition of words such as hooray, and run. The text is rhyming to develop a language pattern. The illustrations are large and clear and sparkly…..with many interesting scenes included.

 Pre- school children and those more experienced would enjoy the vibrant message and positive experiences of these bunnies.
