A lift the flap book is always a pleasure to read. Searching for Treasure is special because the objects in the book that we see, are located along the seashore. At the high tide line there are many interesting pieces of sea life to look at.

After several steps taken by the child and adult, who begin their beach journey, the reader finds a flap to open and can examine a shell, a claw and a shark egg casing. These can often be found on the beach, especially where there are rock pools.

As they continue walking along the high tide line, many more treasures are shown to lay at their toes. Pretty shells, seaweed, small fish and tiny insects can be seen. Jellyfish, and bones can be seen as well as grasses and shells of many shapes and colours.

Searching for Treasure is a wonderful introduction to beachcombing for children and a great way to draw attention to the small creatures, and variety of marine objects on our rocky shorelines.

When the flaps are lifted, the writing describing the objects is minute, but it seems the purpose of the story is to get children looking and aware of the many marvelous things to be found on the beach.
