It is the very Australian illustrations that resonated; they are bold, dreamy and showcase the quintessential rural environment think: rain tanks, wildflowers, open spaces, gum trees.

The text is very sentimental but slightly confusing, whimsical and showing the strength and enjoyment a new daddy has for their child.

It didn’t really work when read aloud to my 4 year old, the text was not really connecting for her as we endured lots of why? why? why?

‘My daddy said, On the day you were born, I put you back in your mother’s arms, and that night we were the world.’ I’ve now read the book a number of times and the ending still confuses me! So is it from the child’s perspective? or the older sibling? or The father’s?

The books works best as a coffee table book you buy for new parents.
