With sturdy card pages, this picture book Teeth: You Only Get Two Sets contains a huge amount of information. The reader is given very detailed facts with many illustrations to aid the understanding. At first a tooth is enlarged and all its parts labelled. The next pages discuss such issues as why we need teeth, where do they come from and why do they hurt?

On the page taking care of teeth, we are shown the correct way to clean and various toothbrushes, and methods of cleaning are shown. Foods which are good for your teeth and foods bad for your teeth are pictured.

Visits to the dentist show what to expect while in the Consulting Room. Objects are labelled and we see a spittoon, a saliva extractor and a tray of tools by the dentist’s hand. A picture shows a small mirror being placed in the mouth so all of the teeth can be viewed.

The information on how to pull out a wobbly tooth is practical and humorous, with several suggestions for consideration. The final page shows what we would look like if we had animal teeth. Hmmmm, very interesting!

The format of the book suggests that it is for a very young child, but the size and amount of text is huge. It is certainly a book for parents to share with their children and one that will follow the journey of your teeth until adulthood.
