Just imagine, there was Mama, Dad, Thomas, Lucy, William Alexandra, Grandpa and Grandma all living together in a tiny house. They only had one of most things. A couch, a table a bike, and a car.

But most importantly they only had one toilet! How difficult that must have been. How “terribly squashy and awfully noisy,” it was.  It was never lonely or quiet though, something was always happening, and someone was always chatting.  There were a great many grumbles as well.

Problems such as Grandad’s bladder, Grandma’s snoring, and Dad not sharing the remote control for the TV were constant. But something amazing happened. They found a huge house in their backyard.

Everyone had their own bed, there were three toilets, there was a granny flat for the grandparents and a kennel fit for a king for the dog. What happiness was to be found without the squashy, noisy, cramped and inconvenient life they had lived before. However, words such as empty, quiet, lonely began to be talked about by the children.

Author Michelle Wilson and illustrator PJ Reece have told this story with a really big title, in such a way that it is fun but thought provoking as well. The text is well broken up, and the illustrations are detailed enough to generate interest. A charming story.
