A book, indeed the first book, in the Destiny of Fire trilogy is a story with much involved and takes a considerable amount of reading, which, as this is the first book in a series is perhaps as it should be.

Illiom is the central character, a Chosen, this is her story, in a time when there were only seven chosen, selected by the Gods and placed in all different walks of life and religion for the their ability to be able to come together as a force; a group each with different values or powers .

They are taken from their normal life, to a place where they are able to use their powers and knowledge to be able to overcome the challenges that are heralded.  Illiom knows there is a darkness coming and that somehow she is connected to this change: but in what way and how will it affect her and the Chosen is unknown

As this is largely an scene setting book for the volumes to follow there is an lot of ground covered, many people introduced and considerable detail used to set the scene, which while interesting and enjoyable leaves you dangling in an place that does not appear to have any sort of ending, as you simply must read the next book to be able to take the story further.

The follow on to Destiny of Fire, the Keys of Awakening, will be an must read for the lover of a great Fantasy Fiction.
