In this everyday life of ours, take some time out to become bewitched with this magical, entertaining and enjoyable story of all the good things that make magic; especially when the setting in mystical Ireland.
Kate McDaid is your average girl struggling to juggle life, love and work and in her opinion not doing all so very well.
Work is not delivering what she wants, her love life is at an all-time low and well life, that’s something else altogether, especially as it is her birthday and there seems to be no ready solution in sight to anything.
She receives an important looking registered letter and when she reads the content discovers she in line for an inheritance from someone called Kate McDaid who died 130 years before. Kate is requested to be at the at the solicitor’s office to receive this bequest as soon as possible. About that time her life begins to change.
She accepts the bequest of her Aunt, which in itself appears to be fairly straightforward and simple as all she needs to do is publish a series of letters left to her: one each week for seven weeks.
Trouble is the most unusual and unexpected begins to happen after the first letter is published; her love life takes a turn for the better and the project she and her colleague Mathew are working on for Starshoot Chocolates suddenly seems to come to life. It appears She, Kate McDaid, can do no wrong.
Along with this she seems to be developing a fan club as the letters are being published on the internet, which in itself appears to be harmless but for some reason the site is becoming enormously popular; she has developed a groupie following of very unusual people and the famous Maura Ni Ghaora wants to interview her for her column.
Everywhere she goes she is recognised and almost mobbed: life has gone from ordinary to overdrive practically overnight and is getting down right spooky and scary.
After a weekend holed up in her tiny apartment she decides it is time she discovers just who the original Kate McDaid was and what is the real meaning behind the letters.
This takes her back to a small town in country Ireland, Knocknamee, a town where her ancestors were still remembered, where she is faced with the challenge of publishing the last letter in the series and completing the task left to her by her Aunt.
She has by this time realised things are not all they appear to be and that somewhere along the track the fairies of Irish folklore are alive and well and just perhaps, they are the ones who have been meddling in her life.
What will it mean to the past and present if Kate takes the final step to fulfil her bequest is a challenge she has to work through and make the right decision for everyone involved.
