Chakra is a word bandied about by many as a symbol of new age enlightenment, of change and spirituality, meditation and so much more. But like most things there is far more to Chakras than a mystical, coloured element of the body which is generally misunderstood.

Some of this comes about by a variety of descriptions that have travelled down over centuries, as Chakras are an integral component of Indian spirituality, known as spinning wheels of light which dates back to the Hindu Upanishads around 2,600 years ago.

This was later adopted by the Patanjali then the Buddhists, each placing their own interpretation of the idea of colour and importance to the flow of the body. Ancient Egyptian and Greeks, as well as some Christians discovered the chakras and truly believed they were the pathway to enlightenment.

Today the seven main or major chakras are used in modern holistic practice for health and wellbeing.

Patricia Mercier has set out in Chakra’s. A Modern Guide, the modern emphasis on Chakra, their massive importance to understanding the energy flow of the body and how when this becomes unbalanced, health suffers, as does well-being.

Set out in easy to read format Chakra’s: A Modern Guide is perfect for the beginner who is interested in discovering more about holistic health and well-being and anyone who has, over years developed an interest and wishes to bring their skills up to date.

Beautifully complied every aspect of the Chakras, their importance and the best way to use the new found knowledge is set out clearly and concisely. Each Chakra is dealt with separately, commencing with their origins, well-being and nature.

As this is a form of workbook, each section poses questions and life lessons that are from the Chakra being studies. As the books unfolds sections deal with the particular influence on the body of the Chakra such as Well-being, Colour, Breathing, Ways with Herbs, Crystal Consciousness and much more.

At the end of the book is Your Chakra Year, set out in the form of a monthly diary which, if used, will encourage use of the wisdom within the pages, and will encourage a healthy, whole and happier lifestyle.
