In this gentle and compassionate look at what happens after death, what the transition process is from life to death and reconnection to the living, Alison DuBois brings comfort to many who are struggling to find solace and also closure. She, through the touch and love of those who left, offers the key to being able to move on, to slowly and gradually begin to live life again, to heal, in the knowledge that their loved one is really OK.
Through the stories of those who have lost loved ones, she shares the intimate connection of Spirit making their presence felt to offer comfort to their family and let them know that the absolute feeling of loss is in the beginning is the right, but that it is not the right way to continue living. In fact it makes the soul very sad to see such continued suffering.
She lets us take a peek at what happens when the soul moves from the living via their medium, whether it is accidental, through choice, murder or simply the end of a life, long and well lived.
Regardless of how someone dies there is always the trauma of loss and the various stages the bereaved must travel to be able to say their goodbyes, to begin to heal. Alison lists these as the six stages of grief we have to pass through before the healing can commence.
As always with this form of connection to those in the spirit world, their stories are interesting and fascinating. To be able to get the ‘other side’ of what happened and why, not only helps people understand more fully, but also answers so many of the questions that are always left unanswered in life.
Each of the chapters looks at a different aspect of death; the death of a beloved pet, healing of old wounds and premature death, offering compassionate understanding of the grief involved. The stories come with the living sharing their loss and then the deceased’s perspective which is of course, intriguing to say the least.
There is also a section devoted to finding a good Medium if you choose to contact your loved one; how to ensure you are not being taken advantage of and that this person you choose to take you on this journey is the right person for you.
The final chapters are on ‘Relationship’s and ‘Creating your own versions of heaven now’ are deigned to make you think about the life you are living, how you can improve your relationships and go about creating a better, more loving and understanding place involving family members both past and present.
