My Life As An Alphabet was an interesting read. Although the book is aimed at my age group and above the vocabulary in this is mind-boggling.

It’s stated in the book that Candice Phee reads the dictionary but when she uses the tricky vocabulary it is not explained. I found myself reading around the trickier words, which, when added up means I missed a few sentences.

Some of Candice’s characteristics reminded me of myself: I liked that.
Like being a little odd, loving my English teacher, trying to solve other people’s problems and asking particular questions that didn’t really need to be asked. Stuff lots of other teens love to do as well, so it’s easy to relate.

One other thing I’d like to add is my love for the conclusion of the story. How Candice’s family overcome some of their depression and sadness, how Douglas Benson from another dimension finally travelled to his own dimension and returned and Denville, Candice’s pen-pal, eventually getting her letters and sending some back.

The story was all wrapped up nice and neatly making a very tidy ending.

An entertaining story for 12-15 year olds that you can relate too!
