Looking back on one’s life as an often-bewildered teenager, memories of childhood, friendships, and passionate young love affaires come to the forefront. The author uses rich details, sensory words, and figurative language to paint an intense picture of her life in Paris. She combines storytelling with deep, artistic descriptions of people, places, and feelings. With her use of metaphors and similes she brings her characters alive; Alexandre, her father, reclusive Poum, her mother, and her friend Malone, the homeless man.

The Hurt is a story of relationships; sometimes tragic but at times it brings a smile to one’s lips!
